Co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls, Aisha Yesufu has revealed that she doubts President Buhari wasn’t aware that the Inspector General of police had left Benue state against his orders. She believes those words from the president are mere excuses. She also made it clear to the president that the cold welcome he received on arrival in Benue is an hint to what is likely to happen in 2019 if he choses to go to the polls.

Fulani herdsmen attack villagers inEbonyi, cut off their hands and put them to death.

Fulani herdsmen have been blamed for a spate of killings across Nigeria  (Nigeria Master Web)

Herdsmen believed to be of Fulani extraction attacked a villager tending to his cattle in Ebonyi, before chopping off his hands.

The incident occurred in Igbeagu Community, Izzi local government area of Ebonyi.

Police spokesperson in Ebonyi, Loveth Odah told newsmen that “as they attacked him, he managed to raise an alarm and more villagers came to his rescue".

Odah said as the farmer’s hands were getting cut off, villagers who rushed to the scene to save their kinsman, were lacerated with machetes by the irate herdsmen.

More villagers however arrived the scene, beat the herdsmen to a pulp before handing them to soldiers patrolling the community, eyewitnesses told Pulse.

The wounded farmers were rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki.

However, they didn’t make it alive.

“One of the herdsmen later died as he was being rushed to the hospital, making it four deaths”, Odah said.

Rampaging herdsmen have been blamed for a slew of killings and rustling across Nigeria in recent times.

In January, Benue buried 73 victims of herdsmen attacks in one day.

The northern States of Nasarawa, Plateau, Kaduna and Zamfara have also experienced varying degrees of barbaric attacks from gunmen masquerading as pastoralists.

UGHELLI— EXACTLY a week after a female banker allegedly committed suicide by drinking insecticide in Ughelli, Delta State, another girl reportedly drank same poisonous substance, leading to her death, because she failed JAMB examination.

The girl, simply identified as Loveth, aged 18, and resident of Imowhe Street, had gone to check her JAMB score on Tuesday, where it was discovered that she performed below her expectations in the exam.

Sources at the centre disclosed that the girl, who scored 160, started crying, saying “My father will kill me.”

Another source, who visited the girl’s family residence, disclosed that she had collected three bottles of the poisonous substance from her mother’s shop the previous night.

According to the source, “the father said he did not scold her for her result, but only told her that there is no way she would get admitted to study medicine in the university of her choice.

“Feeling slighted for her poor performance after her encounter with her father, she went to stay with her mum in their shop, collected the poison after they closed.

“She brought it home and drank the content. Her lifeless body was discovered on Wednesday (yesterday) morning.”

It was gathered that after her remains was discovered, her parents rushed her to a pentecostal church at Upper Agbarho for prayers, were she was confirmed dead.

At press time, efforts to speak with the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, was fruitless.

Police have finally arrested Lekan Adebisi, the mentally deranged man who hacked two students of Saint John’s Anglican Primary School, Agodo, Ogun State to death.

The four-year-old pupils – Mubarak Kalesowo and Sunday Obituyi – were gruesomely murdered by the mad man who somehow found his way into the school’s premises during lunch break on Monday.

Adebisi disappeared into thin air after committing the crime and police had declared him wanted.

Police’s search efforts yielded positive result in the early hours of today when the suspect was seen in a bush around the community.

He was said to have resisted arrest and attacked the officers with a sharp cutlass. He was subsequently shot on the leg.

He has been taken to the hospital.

“We were a bit unlucky because we created many chances to score. I think there was a penalty on Marcos Alonso at the start of the second half and, if you make it 2-1, you can put a bit of pressure on Barcelona.

“At the end, I repeat. I must be pleased with the commitment of my players. I saw great work from my players.”

One area he may look to change is up front, though. Eden Hazard played as a false nine in the first leg and applied himself well, but he was ineffective in the same position against Manchester City recently and has openly spoken about his dislike for the role.

Instead, Conte could hand a second consecutive start to Olivier Giroud, who has not yet featured in the Champions League for Chelsea but was unfortunate not to open his Premier League account for the club against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Moratais out of favour and seemingly not trusted in the big games anymore, which could provide Giroud with the chance to nail down a starting spot with a good performance at the Camp Nou.

That would see Hazard drop back to his preferred wide role and former Barca manPedro is the most likely to drop out considering Willian's recent form - which includes the opening goal in the first leg of this tie.

Victor Moses should return at right wing-back after being rested at the weekend, while Conte is also likely to keep faith withAndreas Christensen despite the youngster's recent form coming under scrutiny.

Antonio Rudiger missed the Palace game with muscle fatigue, but Conte hinted that he will be available for tonight's match and, if so, he is expected to replace Gary Cahillin the side.

Sharing the story on Facebook, Special Assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Social media, Abel Ifiemi revealed that the woman was pregnant before her death.

According to him, the man is likely not to escape the mob action as the crowd who gathered over the incident are calling for his head.
