2019: Ebonyi youth group dares Umahi, threatens to vote out lawmaker

2019: Ebonyi youth group dares Umahi, threatens to vote out lawmaker

The youths of Edda west constituency numbering over 50 at the weekend threatened to vote out Ebonyi lawmaker, Hon. Nkemka Onuma, representing Afikpo South West over alleged incompetence.

The lawmaker was recently endorsed by the state governor Chief David Umahi for re-election in 2019.

The youths, who spoke to journalists in Abakaliki through their leader Mr. Paul Kalu-Mba, said he did not deserve to go back.

He said that Onuma had grossly under-performed and that they cannot afford to allow him waste another four years.

Kalu-Mba alleged that Onuma is not a grassroot politician but an opportunist who was imported from abroad where he had spent a greater part of his life and given the Peoples Democratic Party ticket on a platter of gold.

“Nkemka Onuma is yet to realize he is no longer abroad. Perhaps, that is why he is still finding it hard to fully identify with our people.

“We want a representative who should be grassroot oriented, someone that knows us and our needs very well. Our plights under Onuma today is because he was imported from abroad and imposed on us, but we cannot allow that to continue,” he said.

He claimed that Onuma is the worst performed lawmaker from the constituency since the history of the state and urged him to drop his ambition to avoid incurring the anger of the youths.

He faulted Governor David Umahi for declaring that he would work for the reelection of all the 24 lawmakers of the state Assembly, noting that such declaration if it was anything to go by, would tantamount to encouraging mediocrity in leadership.

Kalu-Mba, however, said Edda west youth were fully in support of Governor Umahi’s reelection bid but warned that any attempt to impose Onuma on them the second time would be vehemently resisted.

Mourinho praises four Man United stars for Liverpool fall

Mourinho praises four Man United stars for Liverpool fall

Manchester United manager JoseMourinho has praised four stars that helped overcome Liverpool at Old Trafford during Saturday's Premier League clash.

Marcus Rashford scored twice on his recall to the starting XI to give Mourinho's side the points despite a largely defensive display in which they had just 32% of possession and two shots on target.

"He [Rashford] scored two goals in a big match against a top class opponent. So of course

he was fundamental and the good thing was the first chance he had he got it, he scored because I think the last few months that was not happening with him and he was feeling that a little bit in terms of self-confidence.

"But today, big game, probably unexpected, we trusted him, we felt the game could be adapted to his qualities.

"He's improving a lot in training and sometimes that's the point, media, fans, in relation to options, you are not at the training ground, you don't see what is going on.

"You don't see how well or bad players are training, the self-confidence, the mood, the feeling and the feeling with him was that he was really improving a lot in the past few weeks.

"I want to praise obviously every player but I go to Marouane, because knee surgery returned before time, he did a fantastic work to recover outside the club with people of his trust, he arrived to train a couple of days ago and made himself available to play. Before the game

I asked him how many minutes do you have for me? He told me the minutes he wanted."

Romelu Lukaku also enjoyed himself against Liverpool and put in an impressive showing against the Reds, playing an important role in both of Rashford’s goals.

Wike, Abe bicker over Buhari’s planned visit to Rivers

Wike, Abe bicker over Buhari’s planned visit to Rivers

PORT HARCOURT—AS bickering continues over the planned visit by President Muhammadu Buhari to Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe has implored Governor Nyesom Wike and all dissenting voices to be grateful to the President, instead of casting aspersions over the anticipated visit.

Abe-Wike

Abe, a Senator representing Rivers South East, expressed the sentiment, yesterday, even as Governor Wike maintained that the key reason of security informing the said visit was misplaced.

Abe said: “Rivers State has been in the news for the wrong reasons of recent. The governor should have been the happiest person to hear that the President is coming to see those people who lost loved ones and empathize with them.

“It would be an opportunity for the governor to find a way to work with the President to ensure that we have better security but because of the undertone of violence in Rivers State, I think that is why he finds the visit uncomfortable at this time”

No security challenges to attract his visit—Wike

Meanwhile, Governor Wike, in his disposition to the said presidential visit maintained that the move is misplaced although with a ray of hope that it could afford the President the opportunity to make a turnaround on perceived Federal Government and APC neglect of Rivers.

Wike said: “They say the President is coming to our state. I have not been told the President is coming and why he is coming. He has the right to go to any state. Maybe the President is coming to improve the fortunes of the APC that is dead in Rivers State.

“Apart from Jesus Christ, we don’t know of anyone who raised a dead thing. APC is a dead party in Rivers State. No matter how you fast and pray, it will never wake up.

“Let nobody bother himself or herself that the President is coming for security reasons. We don’t have security challenges in the state. We have never had herdsmen killings or crisis  in the state, except when some criminals tried to disrupt the peace and they were checked. We resolved that challenge.”

He said there was no state in the nation where kidnappers and armed robbers were not operating, adding that if President Buhari was visiting because of kidnappers and armed robbers, he should visit all the 36 states.

State of Rivers devt

Both political figures also differed on the state of development of the state with each crediting his respective party to have delivered more dividends of democracy to the people.

Wike claimed that for close to three years, Rivers State had not benefitted from the APC-led federal government.

He lamented that the Ogoni clean-up had remained in the realm of rhetoric, Bodo-Bonny Road about to be abandoned and East-West Road, the Port Harcourt International Airport and other federal projects left unattended to.

Abe on his part said: “The APC government has done more for Rivers State than the PDP government. The Bodo-Bonny road is on-going. Work has started and the East-West road is also on-going. The president is committed to the Ogoni clean-up and he is working. This is the take-off point.” The trust fund account is being opened and you have to finish all this process before you can accelerate.”

A man finds 54 severed frozen human hands in the snow

A man finds 54 severed frozen human hands in the snow

It was a grisly discovery on an ice-covered island: a bag of 54 severed, frozen human hands.

The Siberian Times reported a man found a single hand sticking out of the snow, then an entire bag of them on an island in the icy Amur River, about 19 miles from the Chinese border.

Locals took several photographs of their find: One shows the hands jumbledtogether, and another shows them lined up neatly in the thick snow. A local media outlet reported bandages were also found near the hands, and those hands that have fingerprints will be used to try to identify the bodies.

The discovery prompted a flurry of speculation about where the hands might have come from. Gizmodo reported that local residents thought they might either have been cut off as a brutal punishment for theft or might have been lopped off of cadavers used by medical students.

But Russian authorities said they do not believe the hands are a result of a crime.

In a translated post to the messaging app Telegram, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said the hands were “not of criminal origin” but were instead improperly disposed of by a nearby forensic medical facility in the town of Khabarovsk.

Khabarovsk is a large city in eastern Russia with a population of more than half a million people.

The government’s argument has some credence, Russia Today reported, as morgue workers generally cut hands off of unidentified corpses to send off for analysis before disposal — though they’re supposed to be cremated or buried.

“Based on the [investigation] results, a legal assessment will be made of the actions of officials of the forensic medical institution in the city of Khabarovsk responsible for the disposal of these biological objects,” the investigative committee wrote, according to LiveScience.

South African dancer Zodwa Wabantu deported from Zambia due to indecency

South African dancer Zodwa Wabantu deported from Zambia due to indecency

Controversial South African dancer Zodwa Wabantu, has been deported from Zambiaon the grounds that her performance would “undermine national values”

Her promoter Lucky Munakampe told AFP, “I can confirm that Zodwa has been deported back to South Africa by the immigration department,” he gave no reason for her deportation.

Zambia’s religious affairs minister Godfridah Sumaili told AFP last week that Zodwa would not be allowed to perform in the country. In his words, “Zambia is a Christian nation where morality and ethics have to be followed. We don’t expect a woman to dance without underwear. If she is ready to come with her panties, fine, we will welcome her”.

The dancer had been due to perform on Saturday in Lusaka at the launch of a music album organised by a local entertainment company, Sunset Sound Production.

The organisers of the show said in a statement earlier this week that Zambia’s National Arts Council had rejected their application.

“The Council stated that… Zodwa’s performances were not in the public interest and undermined our national values,” the statement said.

Zodwa who was sent back when she landed at the Kenneth Kaunda international airport in the morning told her fans that she feels she has become a pawn in a fight between Zambian authorities and her promoters in the country. The er*tic dancer went ahead to promise her fans that she would be back and that it was just a matter of time.

“I Feel Like A Woman Trapped In A Man’s Body”– 26 Year Old Transgender Reveals

“I Feel Like A Woman Trapped In A Man’s Body”– 26 Year Old Transgender Reveals

Sometimes, when you are not in the shoes of someone, it’s hard to understand how they feel. Rather than been judgemental all of the time, take a second to reflect on how you would react if you are the one who finds yourself in such a situation.

This is the story of another transgender known as Golden, who was born as a male but has decided to transition to become a female.

Yes, she looks like a girl now and I am sure if you come across her in town, you wouldn’t know she was once a man. Speaking to Ghone News, Golden says, she started by cross-dressing as she couldn’t fit in with boys. She feels she’s a girl trapped in a boy’s body.

Golden is not the first transgender we’ve heard of in Ghana, although there are many of them out there, she’s the second transgender who has come out to speak publicly on the matter. Recall we shared with you a story of another transgender known as Madina Broni.

She revealed in her interview that, she had the chance to transition some 5 years ago when she went to Miss Earth in the Philipines as a make-up artist. She said that she saw lots of females make up artiste and it was during their conversations, that she realized they were all transgenders as well and with their help, she (or he, anyone bia) was able to also transition into a female.

Although she has not touched her male organ yet, she hopes to change it next year and then fully alter her documents, to be regarded as a woman by law.

Home remedies to get rid of yellow teeth

Home remedies to get rid of yellow teeth

Here are 11 ways that may help to get rid of yellow teeth at home. These are an alternative to teeth whitening options that a dentist may offer.

1. Brushing frequently

There are various teeth whitening options that can be tried at home or offered by dentists.

This is most important after consuming food or drink that may discolor the teeth, such as:

Here are some tooth brushing, best practice tips:

*brush two to three times a day

*brush for 2 to 3 minutes at a time

*be sure to brush every surface of each tooth

*make circular motions when brushing

*avoid brushing the gums or brush them very gently

*be sure to reach the teeth at the back of the mouth

2. Whitening toothpaste

Whitening toothpaste may help reduce yellowing of the teeth and improve whiteness. These products contain stronger ingredients than standard toothpaste, helping to remove tough food stains.

Whitening toothpaste does not contain bleach but may contain a small amount of carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. These chemicals help to lighten tooth color.

According to a 2014 study, whitening toothpaste typically lightens tooth color by one or two shades.

3. Tray-based tooth whiteners

Some dentists offer tray-based tooth whitening, but home versions are also available over-the-counter. Tray-based tooth whiteners can lighten the teeth by one or two shades.

This tooth whitening method involves wearing a fitted tray over the teeth. The tray contains a bleaching gel and is worn for 2 to 4 hours a day or overnight.

It is important to look for products that contain 10 percent carbamide peroxide. These are recommended as safe by the American Dental Association (ADA).

4. Whitening strips

Whitening strips deliver a thin layer of peroxide gel on plastic strips. These are shaped to fit onto the surface of the teeth.

There is a range of whitening strip products available online and instructions for them vary. Most suggest they should be applied twice a day for 30 minutes.

Strips can lighten the teeth by one or two shades. That said, a 2016 study notes there is no evidence whitening strips are any more effective than 10 percent carbamide peroxide gel. The use of carbamide peroxide gel is the ADA recommended method.

5. Whitening rinses

Whitening rinses are another way to get rid of yellow teeth. They contain oxygen sources such as hydrogen peroxide. These react with the compounds staining the teeth, helping to lift them.

Using a rinse twice a day for 1 minute at a time can lead to a one to two shade improvement in tooth color within 3 months.

6. Activated charcoal

Toothpaste that contains activated charcoal may help to reduce staining on the teeth.

A 2017 review found that charcoal toothpastes may help remove external staining on teeth. Further studies are needed into the extent or rate of stain removal that can be expected.

Charcoal toothpastes should be used with caution, as they can cause staining. The charcoal may be hard to remove from the crevices of the teeth and around restorations.

7. Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide

Using a toothpaste containing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide may help reduce yellowing of the teeth. It is possible to make a paste at home by mixing 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide.

A 2012 study found that using a toothpaste containing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide reduces tooth staining and improves whiteness.

8. Vitamin C

A 2007 study found that vitamin C deficiency may worsen peridontitis, which is a buildup of bacteria on the teeth and gums. This buildup contributes to discolouration.

It follows that keeping topped up on vitamin C may reduce discolouration of the teeth. More research is needed into whether vitamin C consumption may have a whitening effect on the teeth.

9. Fruit enzymes

When added to toothpaste, certain fruit enzymes may combat discolouration.

A 2012 study found toothpaste that contains papain enzyme from the papaya fruit and bromelain enzyme from pineapples helps remove tooth stains.

10. Apple cider vinegar

When it is used in small quantities, apple cider vinegar may reduce staining on the teeth and improve whiteness.

A 2014 study found that apple cider vinegar has a whitening effect on teeth. It should be noted, however, that this was a study on animals.

Apple cider vinegar may damage the surface of the teeth if used too often. More research is needed into the use of apple cider vinegar, as a tooth whitener. In the meantime, it should be used sparingly and with caution.

11. Coconut oil pulling

A 2015 study found that oil pulling or swishing in the mouth with coconut oil could be an effective way to reduce plaque buildup on the teeth. As plaque buildup can contribute to yellowing, it follows that coconut oil pulling may reduce discoloration.

More research is needed into coconut oil pulling to establish the extent to which it may help whiten the teeth.
