Beheaded Boy’s Mother Cries For Justice

Beheaded Boy’s Mother Cries For Justice

The suspects

Janet Salifu, mother of the five-year-old boy who was beheaded, says the two suspects in the case should also be killed by the state.

Vikuniba Joe Zoot, 21, and Kozel Borama, 25, are currently in the custody of the Ashanti Regional Police for their alleged involvement in the gruesome murder of Silas Kunsana at Ampabame, near Sokoban, a community on the outskirt of Kumasi on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.

According to police, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased, a twin, was lured to a secluded spot from Suame Roundabout with yoghurt and beheaded.

The perpetrators dumped his headless body in an uncompleted building.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah disclosed Vikuniba Joe Zoot and Kozel Borama, all from Tongo in the Upper East Region, were arrested after they approached one Sheikh Alhaji Mohammed Maaye, a spiritualist, to sell the boy’s head.

He told the media at a press briefing last Friday that the Suame-based spiritualist feigned interest and agreed to pay GHȼ2,500 for the fresh human head after alerting the police about the deal.

The boy’s mother, 30-year-old Janet Salifu, called for the death penalty for Vikuniba Joe Zoot and Kozel Borama.

“They killed my son by cutting his head so theirs should also be cut,” Janet told the press.

“I want the government to sentence these men to death, since that is the only way to assuage my pain and agony.”

“Our son was innocently killed. Our son is gone. This boy’s head was cut off. We want a fair outcome and financial support from government towards the burial,” head of the family, Doodah Babakparanaa stated.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander said the suspects would be put before court on Monday on various charges.

The five-year-old lived with her mother and siblings at a slum at the Suame Roundabout in Kumasi.

His parents moved to Kumasi from Nadowli in the Upper West Region to seek greener pastures.
